The Banner Hall

The characters readers have sworn into the Banner-lands. They live around the story — in the margins, the hill towns, the toll roads — and the archivist reads every one before it takes its place in the hall.

The Banner Hall is where reader-created characters are sworn into the world around Aurefold — each raised under one of the ten houses, each read by the archivist before it takes its place. Soldiers, scribes, and smugglers of secrets gather here; the finest are honoured, and the very finest are taken into the material around the book.
