Building this one in the open
Most books arrive as a finished object, with none of the road that led there.
Aurefold is going the other way. From here to publication, the work happens where
readers can see it — reader testing, cover and interior design, print proofs, the
campaign — and this journal is where each real step gets written down.
No hype, no invented milestones. When something genuinely moves, it goes here, and
it goes to free
members first. If you want to watch a book get made rather than just buy the

Where the project stands
Book One, The Bell of Silence, is a completed manuscript of
approximately 86,000 words. Internal developmental revision is finished.
The next stages, in order:
- External reader testing and final revision
- Professional proofreading
- Cover development and interior design
- Print proofs and production testing
- Crowdfunding, then publication
